Fresh to market from a central illinois estate comes this amazing and very unique upright boiler steam engine with an alcohol burner that fits underneath. The 12 1/2 inch tall and 4 inch diameter upright steam engine has a big flywheel on one side. it has the most amazing conglomeration of valves, fittings, gears, pipes and relaease switches I have ever seen. The cast iron base has the look of an industrial machine foundation. The side door opens to allow insertion of the alcohol burner. This toy has to be german, it cannot be french or American due to the exquisite detail. This toy even has a whistle toward the top. The engine is not marked, but Doll or marklin, or perhaps even Bing come to mind. the toy has been used and reflects some age, but the absolutely winderful steam engine toy reflects character and attention to detail that is rarely seen in most other toys of the 1900 to 1925 era such as this. I have not run the toy with an alcohol burner, but when I turn the large flywheel, the gears move and the piston drive shaft works smoothly. This is a steam engine toy that rarely comes around. Don't miss it, as it is unlikely one of theis quality, detail or beauty will come around for a long time.
