This is an antique medical device in a wooden box with three different metal-tipped syringes and rubber tubing. T is pink lettering on the inside of the lid which is about half gone and includes the words--Mattson's patent, bulb, syringe, and infant. The lettering appears to be from the late or middle 19th century. Also included in the box is a small newspaper clipping that reads: Dear Sir--Our children are subject to cholera morbus. Will you please send me the rescipe for same....? The recipe includes tinctures of capsicum, ginger, camphor, rhubarb, peppermint and laudanum. It asserts: This is the best remedy in the land. The wooden box measures 5 3/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches. This item has been used, and tfore has an authentic provenance.
