Magnificent Large Covered Meissen Blue Onion Tureen Impressive, large covered porcelain blue and white covered tureen in Meissen's Blue Onion Pattern. If a serving dish could have presence and personality, this one has it! Exuberantly shaped with beautifully articulated foliate handles and a foliate scroll finial which were expertly crafted and detailed by Meissen. The blue and white hand painted classic abstracted floral and onion pattern is a rich blue on a brilliant white highly glazed background. The bottom is marked with crossed swords. The covered tureen measures 14 1/2" inches from handle to handle and is 10" high with the cover on. It is approximately 10" wide. The tureen is in overall beautiful condition with the major exception of a hairline crack and repairs on one side of the bowl. The hairline is mostly visible from the inside. It is barely perceptible from the outside except for a small area of repair which I didn't notice until I started writing this description. There are three areas of discoloration on the rim on the same side of the bowl . One area has been repaired and the blue line beneath the rim has been touched up there. I don't know if it was a crack or a chip. I cannot tell if it was touched up or repaired where the other areas of discolorations are. I think the photographs exaggerate the imperfections,
