FINE ANTIQUE MEISSEN FIGURE ALLEGORICAL OF WINTER AFTER J J KAENDLER c1748-50 A very fine late nineteenth/ early twentieth century Meissen hard paste porcelain figure allegorical of ‘Winter’ from a Set of the ‘Four Seasons’, this is a later pull after a model by J.J Kanedler & P Reinicke c1748-50. The figure (first quality) exquisitely sculpted and in absolutely mint condition depicting a young boy adorned with a red fur trimmed coat and wearing ice skates, he skates on ice on a naturalistically sculpted mound form base. Interested parties may wish to see the Mythology, court Life and street traders sections within Meissen Portrait Figures by Len and Yvonne Adams were they will note figures with stylistically comparable figures both in terms of modelling, subject and detail. In addition there are four figures entitled ‘The Seasons’ plate 57, page 55 within ‘The Book of Meissen Second Edition’ by Robert E Rontgen. This model stands 5 ½ inches tall and is marked with the Meissen factories blue underglaze crossed swords (NO cancellation or incision marks!) and is accompanied by impressed and incised numbers as shown, the piece is in absolutely mint condition, with no damage or imperfections of any kind.
