Up for sale is an antique hard cover book (9” x 6”, 2” thick, 865 pages) called “Dr. Chase’s Third, Last And Complete Receipt Book And Household Physician, Or Practical Knowledge To The People” by A.W. Chase, M.D (1817-18. The F.B. Dickerson Thompson Company of Mich and Minn published it in 1906. There are B & W and colored illustrations. What a wonderful legacy this doctor has left on treating all kinds of diseases and sharing all of his information with the people. "Dr. A.W. (Alvin Wood) Chase (1817-1885), of Ann Arbor,Mich., was a giant of the patent-medicine field. Though he hadno medical degree, having learned his trade by apprenticing toanother doctor, he made up for his lack of formal training witha healthy dose of entrepreneurship. Besides Dr. A. W. Chase’sEvery-Day Mouth Wash, the good doctor’s remedies includedDr. A. W. Chase’s Ointment, Dr. A. W. Chase’s CatarrhPowder and Dr. A. W. Chase/s Tonic (which was laxativepills).However, Dr. Chase was best known as an author. In 1863,his first book, Dr. Chase’s Recipes or Information forAnybody, was published.
