Victorian era (late 1800s) country store coffee bin. It is advertising for Dutch Colony Coffee, manufactured by the Woolson Spice Co. of Toledo, Ohio. The bin is bright orange red with gold, silver, and black advertising and ornamentation. The top is hinged and opens and it is held open with a chain. There is prominent advertising on the bin's front and inside top. The two sides and outside top have eastlake style ornamentation. The back is plain orange red. When closed, the coffee bin measures 19 x 12 1/4 inches and it is 17 inches tall. With the top open, its heigth increases to 25 3/4 inches. The coffee bin has several scratches and bends, a few of which have become small tears. There are also small areas of paint loss. The paint is all original, and has not been retouched, however the exterior red orange has faded to almost pure orange. There is no rust on the painted surfaces but a few spots of light rust on the unpainted interior and base remain. A very nice dispayable piece of early country store advertising.
