You are bidding on a beautiful small Mexican Revolutionary / Spanish Colonial D guard fighting knife. This knife, along with others, was recently acquired by us from a very fine New England edged weapons collection. The pictures speak for themselves, and I will attempt to describe the knife the best I can...I'm no expert, and will leave the decision making to those of you who know more than me. This little beauty appears to date from the middle of the 19th century, and to be all intact. It has not been cleaned, and both the wood and metal components have a fabulous old patina. The scorpion tip blade measure 8 7/8" long and appears to be of hand-forged iron. The false edge is present on one side of the blade. T is the expected pitting, and t are some tiny "dings" on the cutting edge of the blade, probably due to use. The point is excellent with only a barely perceptible burr. The ferrule and the pommel are loose due to shrinkage of the wooden grip. The pommel washer is firmly in place. The D guard retains the same patina as the blade and the other metal parts. Knife blade is 1 3/16" at thickest point at guard. Total length 13.5". The artistry of this old knife belies its incredible lethality.
