Welcome to my ebay store!This item is from my Love of Victorian antiques, in particular, the rare pieces made of black laquered paper mache with mother of pearl inlay and beautiful hand painted gold scrollwork. The MOP is in excellent condition, the gold painted detail also. This is a lap desk with lid, a flat writing surface and a pen holder area with its own lid. This antique was probably made in England in the mid 1800s and has the expected wear to corners and hardware. The lid needs to be reattached and the screws are in a small bag for buyer to do. It is a nice large desk/display piece. See my other listing of a similar item known as a cake basket, with same MOP design, and brass ornate handle. The design on the center is the Flower basket. See all photos for description and condition. This was a classic drawing room accesorie circa 1850-1870. The dimensions are 15 x 10 approximately. Please note that the hinge area is restoration and as I pointed out, there is wear to corners.
