Antique Mid 18th c. Japanese Wakizashi Samurai Sword w/ Tsuba from the Edo Period. Length of the blade is 44cm. Authentic original eel skin handle. The word wakizashi means "side insertion". Blade has some condition issues (small dings) due to age and actual use. Pins are missing. Some loss of eel skin.The wakizashi would be worn all the time as a side weapon for the samurai. This sword was a constant companion of the samurai, he would have it with him from the moment he woke up to the time he went to bed, and even then the sword would be under his pillow while sleeping.This wakizashi comes from a prominent local Estate that has a large collection of Oriental Antiques.***Please see our other wakizashi sword listing***
