Very fine oval miniature painting on ivory depicting Mary Magdalene, Mary Magdalene or Madeleine. A beautiful rendition of the original Mary Magdalene In Ecstasy At The Foot Of The Cross. Oil on ivory and mounted in a simple wood frame of the period. No signature found. Tiny old brass wire for hanging is noted to back.Portrait measures: 4 1/4” Actual painting measures: 3 5/8”Condition is excellent and commensurate with age. No loss to the painting upon my inspection with loupe. Appears to have a minor surface scratch to the far right and far left of the portrait, please enlarge for further details.
