For auction is this lovely, Moth/Butterfly Majolica plate . The mark on the bottom is a Schütz mark that the brothers used between 1854 and 1900 [before the mark was changed to Schutz-Cilli] . ItÂ's a kneeling archer [German: 'Schütz'] a circle 'G' Â- see photo Â- and is the only mark. [T is an identical plate w/a wire basket rim that recently ended on eBay Â- look for Completed Listing No. 180229577675. Thank you to that seller for information on this mark! is a link to information on the company & the mark: /moravia/olomuczan_1/00.php ] I purchased these plates from a woman whose mother collected Majolica when she lived in England in the 50s. Dimensions : round dish Â- approximately 7-1/4Â" in diameter. Condition: overall Â- excellent; colors are strong & the glaze glossy. Overall expected crazing. Top : glossy, w/light wear to very small areas Â- visible w/a loupe. Appears to have been made when plates were stacked & plate hanger rubbed the surface. Came with plate hanger attached. IÂ've removed it. Bottom : glossy with light bottom wear. T is an area under the rim w the glaze was thin. This area is slightly rough. Shipping & handling: Priority shipping to U.
