Made of rolled gold, this antique mourning brooch combines a simple, elegant design with actual human hair. It always amazes me that people could weave such intricate patterns from something so tiny as hair! You can see the weaving of the hair in the larger photos of the brooch.Definitely a personal piece of someone's past, this little brooch swivels in the center, when the C clasp on the reverse is open. The clasp is in great working condition, and overall, the condition of this little gem is extremely good. From the mid to late 1800's, when "hair" jewelry was a popular form of adornment for the bereaved.
