BID WITH CONFIDENCE NOW........... is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a fine piece of antique American glass for your collection at an affordable price. Perfect decorative accent or cabinet item. This is a covered painted milk glass sweetmeat jar produced by the prestigious Mount Washington Company. The jar proper has scroll and swirl designs with hand painted blueish/purple florals and gold accents. The metal top rim and handle have a gold colored finish. The figural handle depicts crane, heron or stork looking birds. The hinges operate as designed. The bottom of the jar is marked "2038" (hand painted in red), while the inside lid is marked with the initials "MW" and "PAT APL FOR 2038". I purchased this item from the estate of an elderly couple many years ago and it now returns "fresh" to the market. Spectacular antique piece of glass. Overall, the item is in excellent (NOT MINT) condition void of cracks, chips or major damage. NOTE:T are signs of wear consistent with age including slight wear to the paint and finish.
