Antique Nautical Lantern This lantern was found hanging in my Father in Law's basement with a variety of lanterns. He used to vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine during his youth in the 30's and 40's and picked these up at that time. I believe this lantern to be turn of the century around the 1900's according to other lanterns found at the same time that have been date verified. I took several of them and cleaned them up to be given as gifts to my wife, her siblings and her mother to remember him and his love for the open water and Bar Harbor. This is the last one and it is now up for sale.It looks to be brass along the top and bottom as well as some of the kerosene insert, with the remainder being comprised of steel. The clear glass globe is in mint condition with no cracks or chips and the kerosene tank still has it's original wick and the knob to adjust still works to move the wick up and down. It is missing the bottom plate that covered the kerosene tank but the side tabs are still in place to hold it in the lantern. They were kept stored away since the early 60's and just recently have seen the light of day. This lantern was not cleaned up, just the glass cleaned and what looks like a few bright areas on the top where is was determined to be steel or brass. It's 13 inches tall including the ring and 5 1/4 inches across at the globe read more
