One of my customers has consigned to me an antique New Haven shelf clock, made by the New Haven Clock Co. of New Haven, CT USA, probably ca. 1880s. This clock features an intricately carved walnut wood Eastlake style case, a painted metal dial, a reverse-painted front glass, and an eight-day, time and strike spring-wound movement that strikes the hours on a bell. The pendulum features a slow/fast indicator that moves as the pendulum bob is raised or lowered. The case is in excellent conditon overall, and the finish appears to be original. The dial has is original painted finish, which is mostly intact except for some wear around the winding holes and some crackling consistent with its age. The reverse painting on the glass is about 95% intact, and appears to have been retouched in a few spots. The movement runs and keeps time, however I would recommend a cleaning, oiling, and adjusting for optimum performance (I can do this work at additional cost if desired). Overall, the clock is in excellent condition for a clock that is over 100 years old. Size: 19-1/2"h x 11"w x 4"d. You can own this excellent, almost totally original example of a nineteenth-century American shelf clock starting at 99.99 with no reserve.
