Here's a fabulous antique large "Hand Painted & Beaded Nippon Ewer".This stunning piece was produced in the late 1800's and is marked with the 'maple leaf Nippon backstamp", which was used from 1891-1921. It stands about 9.5" tall and is about 7" in diameter at its widest point. On each side is a beautiful handpainted portrait of roses in soft pastel colors, then highlighted with a silver white raised trim. The body of the ewer is green, trimmed in a lush gold gilt, then decorated with an intricate and ornate pattern that is enhanced with lots of raised beading and gold highlighting. It's in great shape for its 100+ years, without chips or cracks. Some of the gold has worn, especially on the handle and rim of the mouth. It is signed, "hand Painted Nippon, maple leaf", on the bottom. The height of this backstamp is 1/4" tall.Buyer pays S.
