This is a wonderful drafting table with minor apologies...a small burn mark in the lower left hand corner and under it, on the pencil tray, a small piece of wood scraped off of the corner, neither of which problem could not be easily rectified if perfection is what you are looking for. The wood, the oak itself, is a beautiful orangy hue with distinct oak lines accutuenting the surface. This is a very heavy piece and several folks have estimated it at 70-80 pounds although it does not look to me to be that heavy from the photographs. It is! It does come apart, the top from the bottom, for sake of packaging. Made to be used at the Worcester Polytechnical Institue by the Washburn Shops. The top is solid thick oak and the top which moves/adjusts up and down, also moves into a flat writing position. The iron legs are heavy, original and well-balanced; I do not know if the red paint is a repaint. I would suppose yes as iron is black to begin with. Again, the top is height and angle adjustable. I am not sure I will be able to move it from my van (my son was visiting and helped my out earlier) to measure the maximum height and the various measures of the adjustments and angles. Sorry! My son has just called and he estimates the piece extends to over 4 1/2 feet tall. Of course, pick-up is possible. As for shipping, I am unclear about the read more
