is an absolutely marvelous large Victorian oak picture frame measuring 25" by 28". The opening is 13 1/2" by 16 1/2". T are two layers of antique gilt gesso decoration. The liner next to the portrait features a chain link motif. The outer gesso resembles bark with knots and wonderful vines with leaves. The really nice thing is that it has it's original antiqued gold finish. So many times these frames have been re-painted gold. The frame also has it's original old glass and wood backboard. It's in very nice condition. The wood has some very minor knicks along the edges as would be expected and the gesso decoration is also nice. The only misdemeanors that I see are a couple of places along the bottom w the gesso has been lost and someone re-touched it with dark paint? (See picture). You really have to look hard to notice it. As an added bonus, in the frame is a really sweet charcoal (I believe) portrait of a young boy. His innocent expression and HUGE bow under his chin are adorable. Looks to me like Civil War era by his dress. The portrait is very nice but does have some light foxing. This is a great old frame with a wonderful portrait and would be lovely in a restored Victorian home. Or use the frame for your own favorite print. Starting bid is $9.99 with no reserve and as it's really heavy, shipping is by UPS and calculated for your zip code. Thanks for looking!
