ANTIQUE OAK MERMOD SWISS CYLINDER MUSIC BOX, 12 TUNES! Hear it now as you read! This is a wonderful oak cased Mermod music box from the early 1890's and has a 13 1/2" long cylinder with a program of 12 popular and operatic airs. The case measures 26 1/2" long by 10 1/2" wide not including the crank. The comb is complete and 100% original with all tips and dampers. I have the original tune card that lists all 12 of the tunes and it is still legible, although torn. At least we have as most are generally gone completely. The powerful double spring motor plays for a long time at about 20 minutes when fully wound. It also has the patented "safety check" to prevent tooth damage should the governor ever get broken. 99.9 % of existing music boxes don't have any safety check. The case finish is original. This is a good example of a box with popular songs of the day from the 1880's and 1890's.
