Vintage Oakes Egg Scale The Oakes Mfg. Co., Inc. of Tipton, Ind., U.S.A. made this scale. It is made of stamped steel & painted red. It is graduated from 17 to 30 ounces per dozen & 1.5 to 2.5 ounces each. This scale is slightly different from most as the dial is color coded for the four different sizes of eggs. This made sizing eggs much quicker ... small (red), medium (blue), large (yellow), & extra large (green). The brass screw in the 3" x 6.5" base serves as an adjustable stop. Condition: Good structure. Red paint missing from use. Readable numbers. We are currently listing a collection of egg scales from a local estate & will be listing other chicken related items (40 to 50) including incubators, crates, baskets, thermometers, candlers, etc. in the weeks to come from the same estate.
