We are listing for your consideration a lovely Antique Oil on Board Large Seascape Maritime Sailboat Painting Signed HJ Massop Jr. This painting is in Excellent Original Condition with a couple of very small paint flakes at the upper left side above and slightly to the left of the large boat and there is some loss to the gold gesso to the frame. The painting has some old varnish on it that shows some slight texture. The painting could use a cleaning. No other issues, we guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the excellent condition. The painting is held to the frame with nails, it could use a few more to tighten. The painting measures 36 7/8" x 21 7/8" x 1 5/8" at the outer frame, the board measures 30 3/8" x 15 5/8" x 3/8" and painting and frame weigh approximately 8lb 10oz. The painting is signed in black at the lower right corner HJ Massop Jr. (this what we make out) We believe the painting dates from the late 1900's. It features a wonderful seascape scene of sailboats under full sail and they appear to be racing. Great subtle colors to this painting.
