If the date is correct, this barrel could be 103 years old!!. This Antique Standard Oil drum is Empty & still holds pressure. We put 5 PSI air pressure in and it held it for months without any leaking. Valve works on top but has a piece of the handle missing. The Valve is fully functional. Kind of unique as Steel barrels go, the way the top & bottom are crimped and/or welded on and it has the bulge of an old wooden keg style barrel. Date Appears to read June 3, 1902. Date is stamped just under the #L5963 (looks like L5960 in pic) and just above the valve. Can't see it in the pictures and I didn't want to sand the date to read it better as that would ruin the antique patina. Top of tank reads STANDARD OIL CO OF N.Y. ATLAS WORKS BUFFALO N.Y. L5963 ?A ?UNE 3, ?902 We can read some of it, the question marks are a guess. We think it says PA JUNE 3 1902. Dimensions are 21-1/2" around top and bottom, 25" at the bulge. 34" to the top of the valve and 32-1/2" to the top of the tank. Shipping weight is 125 lbs. We will ship thru our LTL account.
