TALLHAND PAINTED SCENIC DECO NIPPON VASESIX SIDED DOUBLE SQUARE HANDLEDNAUTICAL HARBOUR SUNSETOld Green Te-OH Nippon Mark This is a most unusual vase. From the squared handles, and black beads around the collar I liked the geometric shape of this vase. The boating scene around the neck and leafy fruits on the body is interesting. Engaging. This is definately a most unusual piece of Nippon, and I have to say, I have never seen a piece quite like this. It's tall and just has a "look". This vase is one of several Nippon pieces from a wonderful family estate auction held in the Midwest. The owner loved all things vibrant, colourful, and big. This is just one of her pieces, and is a great piece of Nippon Art Pottery. Measures:12 3/8" Tall by 3 3/8" Opening Weight: 3 lbs. 3.2ozDouble Handled Backstamp: Green Te-Oh ChinaHandpainted Nippon This vase probably dates to around 1910, perhaps a bit earlier. The form and shape is fantastic. I love the hand-painted nautical scene. The sunset is bold, rich, and the orange colour tones contrast well with the jet-black trim, lavenders, and Robin's Egg Blue of the water. The collar is beaded and the rim is black. I love the repetitive motif around the handles. The application shows no loss. The overall condition is great. T are no unwarranted marks or cracks and no repairs that I can detect. No read more
