This is a large, heavy mantle clock in working condition. The case has a 3-dome top and the exterior surface appears to be onyx or slate or similar material. The clock was cleaned and maintains time while chiming on the hour and half hour. The chime mechanism has been dampened to limit the intensity and duration or the sound. Not sure how this was done but the new owner can pursue that. The casing has a few small dings which had been or can easily be repaired (see close-up pictures) if desired by someone who routinely works with this material. The movement has a brass backing plate on which is impressed "Jules Rolez Limited" around the perimeter and "Paris" in the center. Unknown if the name morphed into "Rolex" at some time. Some online historical references are interesting involving Manchester, England, Paris, French name translation, etc. It is quite heavy and if dropped on any body part, will never be forgotten. Comes with appropriate pendulum and key, taped to the exterior. A small piece of bubble wrap is placed over, not around, the pendulum attachment mechanism to restrict movement. Use tweezers or watchmaker pliers to gently remove. The clock's weight is 36 lbs, 4oz, before packing. Professional Shipping is recommended. Local pickup allowed.
