Original Civil War Veteran's Badge belonging to Samuel W. Durant, Company E, 127th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Although well over one hundred years in age, this veteran's pin is in like-new, as issued condition. Samuel Durant enlisted in the 127th on August 8th, 1862 as a private in Company E. He attained the rank of Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant during the course of the war. The 127th Illinois fought almost continuously, taking part in the Siege of Vicksburg, Chattanooga/ Missionary Ridge, the Atlanta Campaign - Resaca/Marietta/Kenesaw Mountain/ Ezra Chapel and Jonesborough, finishing with Sherman's infamous March to the Sea. Six members of this regiment were awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry. This is your chance to own an incredible piece of Civil War history.
