They "ARE NOT REPRODUCTIONS!" The pictures really tell it all. On the Front of each Bookend is a young lady, slightly bent forward to capture a drink of water from a small trickle that is pouring out of the mouth of a Lion, which is attached to the wall behind her. T is a large round bowl below the stream to catch the water. She is barefoot, which I find amusing, suggesting that she may not own a pair of shoes or sandals, or that she is young and fancy free, given to walking in the grass or sand. The Bookends are made of Cast Iron and it still retains the original Gold Guild paint. The patina of the Gold Guild is beautiful. The Cast Iron Bookends are very heavy, and the bottoms of each have had a felt glued to them many years ago, although I do not know if it is the original felt, but it certainly looks old. I do not know if t is a Signature or Manufacture Name on the Bottom of the Bookends. I did not want to scrape the felt off to see if t was a Name, Initials, or read more
