I am offering a fabulous PAIR of late 19th century Japanese pottery vases with cloisonne. Asian antiques is not my specialty but I did speak to an antique dealer who is very knowledgeable and he said that porcelain or pottery vases with cloisonne are quite rare. He advised me of the likely timeframe that these beautiful pieces were made. He also said that they may have another purpose than just holding flowers and that they could have been used to hold the elaborate wigs or be used as brush pots. They stand 9 & 3/4" tall and have a diameter of almost 4 & 1/2 ". They are not exactly alike. The color is basically the same, but the design varies a little. Also vase #1 is very slightly taller. T are no cracks, but has overall crazing. Some of the "channels" are vacant, especially in vase #2. Please see photos. Vase #1 has very few vacant channels. These flaws do not affect the overall appearance of these lovely turquoise vases. If you are a collector of antique Japanese pottery, don't miss the opportunity to add such unusual treasures as these wonderful pieces. NOTE: WHEN I LISTED THIS ITEM I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT ON SUNDAY WHEN THE AUCTION CLOSES, I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN FOR 1 WEEK. YOU CAN WAIT A FEW DAYS TO PAY WITH PAYPAL IF YOU LIKE, BUT I WON'T BE ABLE TO SHIP UNTIL MONDAY, APRIL 19TH. Please e-mail me with any questions.
