ANTIQUE PAT'D 1865 KEROSENE LAMP #2 M.H. COLLINS BRASS BURNER WITH DEFELCTORThe Michael H. Collins patent of 1865 provided a separation of the heat from the burner to the chimney below the metal petals of the deflector. It also supported the glass chimney, as chimneys varied in size and the close fit of chimney to deflector, which springs to adapt to the chimney size, helps to stabilize the chimney. From patent No. 49984 September 19, 1865, "The main purposes of my invention, or the principal part, are not only to keep the glass chimney of the lamp, the lower part of the chimney, in a cool condition, so that a person taking hold of the chimney with his hand can readily remove the chimney from the rest of the lamp, but to support the chimney without the use of a spring-catch and devices such as are ordinarily used."This burner is dated with a patent date of September 19, 1865 on the wick wheel. This burner has an original finish over the brass of a copper color, very attractive looking. The wick wheel turns freely advancing the wick up. There is a nice drape below the chimney fitter gallery.Condition is excellent. Burner only, chimney and lamp not included, just used as props.Shipping by USPS Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, and UPS, your choice at checkout.
