This auction is for a sweet old postal scale made by the Pelouze Mfg Co of Chicago . Ths base measures about 3 3/8" by 2" and it is about 3 1/2" tall. The price guide is in excellent condition with a very clean surface and bright, crisp letters and numbers. The metal areas are in pretty good shape considering the age of the scale, with a scratch or two and slight surface wear on the top. There is no rust or metal damage. The scale measures 0-16 oz. and shows rates for: MDSE PRINTING, BOOKS CAT'GS, NEWSP. MAG., LETTERS, AND AIR MAIL. also shows: FOREIGN LETTERS CANADA, SO AMERICA, CENT AMERICA & CUBA 3 CENTS AN OZ, OTHER COUNTRIES 5 CENTS FIRST OZ, 3 CENTS THEREAFTER Underneath is marked: PELOUZE MFG CO CHICAGO PATENTED JUNE 2nd 1896 " MAR. 9th 1898 " MAR. 10th 1903 " MAY 26th 1903 PATENTS PENDING The adjusting screw seems to work well, but I don't know about the accuracy of the scale. This scale is stored in a non-smoking and pet-free home (and used to belong to my Aunt and Uncle) We sell to buyers in the United States only and accept Paypal as our only method of payment.
