This is a lovely old FRENCH powder box I found recently at an estate sale in Oregon near a small Amish / Menonite community. The owner said it was " Grandma's " and that was all the info she had. It plays a complete tune when the lid is removed. T isn't any powder or puff.....and has a few dents as is normal with these items per their age. Also missing one little round foot .....I prefer taking them off and replacing them with felt anyway so as not to scratch the tables tops. The label on the bottom says: S_T. 2 AIRS La Java I Miss my Swiss PARIS MADE IN FRANCE This is truly a gem........the portrait is really quite nicely preserved. A pretty gal wearing quite the extravegant pink hat/bonnet. The box measures about : 3.5" x 4.5" and the bottom is wood. Enjoy ! NOTICE......NOTICE.......NOTICE........NOTICE.....!!! I just grabbed the music box to look for a shipping box to fit it, and t are some dark marks under the plastic covering the portrait ! I'm guessing maybe a bit of mildew now that the box has been in this toasty house for awhile.... :(......still a cool box and I'd guess the inside covering could be popped off for cleaning but I'm not comfortable doing that for someone else. Tfore, anyone wanting to back out from bidding surely can.....not sure how it works but we'll work it out. If not...continue on and happing read more
