This is an Antique Primitive Early Wire Dish Drain Basket from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania circa 1910. This antique rounded wire dish drain basket would have been used for draining and drying hand washed dishes in a typical country kitchen. The Antique Wire Dish Drain Basket is round in shape with a center miniature basket where the flatware would be placed for draining. The basket is framed with a heavier bent rod that serves as the rim for hanging the basket from the wall. Heavy bent wire forms the four small legs, to allow the basket from sitting in water. The basket is so darling and primitive. The large antique Wire Dish Basket looks beautiful wall hung, and is quite a curiousity. The Antique rounded antique dish drain baskets are not easily found. Most unusual! The Antique Primitive Early Wire Basket is in excellent condtion with a nice aged patina. The Antique Primitive Wire Dish Drain Basket measures 15 1/2 inches wide and sits 4 inches high. The basket measures 48 inches round.
