ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE HISTORICAL MERCANTILE-TRADE MACHINING FACTORY AMERICANA - SIGNED IN PERIOD BLUE GRAPHIC FANCY LETTERING "JUDSON L. THOMSON M FG. CO. WALTHAM MASS." HANDMADE WOODEN 'RIVETS' BOX WITH ANTIQUE BLUE GRAPHIC LETTERING STAMPED ON BOTH SIDES OF BOX. Box is hand-cons tructed, their are some period nails and some replacement nails, box is very heavy, thick, sturdy, and very solid with all s eams and nails tight and inta ct. The "JU DSON L. THOMSON MFG. CO." was located in Waltham, Massachusett s on the banks of the Waltham River and adjacent to The B & M Railroad tracks, the property is now home to The Brand ie s University in Waltham. The company was known at the turn-of-the-century as "The Buckle Factory" because the factory once made buckles for overshoes prior to the invention/use of shoelaces. The Judson L. Thomson Mfg. Co. were hardware jobbers in the mercantile-fac tory trade making bifurcated and tubular rivets, and the box is signed as such in lovely period blue stamped graphic lettering and reads thus on either side: JUDSON L. THOMSON MFG. CO. BIFURCATED AND TUBULAR RIVETS WALTHAM MASS. (see pics included of close-up of lettering). There are also blue stamped graphics of rivets on sides of box as well (see pics).
