Antique Norway Painted Bread BoardFabulous antique? vintage? primitive Scandinavian folk art painted bread board from an old estate~~~~~~front is marked: "GID? OS IDAG? VERT? TAGLIGE? BROD" along the bottom edge......it is difficult to read because the lettering has wear and I don't understand the language......I would assume it would translate to something like "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread?". The lady I purchased this from said that this bread board was a wedding gift given to her mother-in-law over 50 years ago and she thinks it may have been old then since the family had always collected antiques even way back then. I wouldn't know an antique European bread board from a vintage one tfore I have no idea how exactly old this is other than it is at least 50 years old......have a look at my pics below and decide for yourself if it is an antique. The lady wasn't sure which Scandinavian country this board came from but she thought it was Norway. Board has a "pine" look to it but the wood is hard so it is probably maple. The edges of the board are a nice shade of grey. Board is in nice condition with no cracks or chips but it does have wear to the painted design giving it a nice weatd shabby look (see pics). Board measures 8 X 17 inches and 3/4 inches thick. I have other vintage/antique items listed on ebay and will combine on read more
