ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE VICTORIAN WOOD & GESSO FRAME IRISES OIL PAINTING ON BOARD Just purchased at a local Estate Auction is this primitive oil painting of flowers (that look like Irises). The painting is done on board and is not signed. The frame is gilded wood & gesso and looks much darker then the photos show (needs to be cleaned). This painting, in the frame, measures approximately 24" high x 18 3/4" across and the viewing area is about 18 1/2" high x 13 1/2" across. The painting is in good condition but appears much brighter in the photos then it really is (it also needs to be cleaned). The frame has a few nicks, here and there, to the gesso and it appears to have been touched up in places where the gesso is missing (not very bad). On the back are the original, old, protective boards and also there is the old wire for hanging. This frame does not look as gold as the photos show. It looks more of a grayish gold (I think it's because of the dirt). This is a very nice, primitive, Oil Painting on Board in an ornate gilded frame to hang in any collection!
