ANTIQUE FINE PUNU- LUMBO GABON AFRICAN MASK c1950 Punu Lumbo Ceremonial ,mask face smeared with clay and surmounted by a carefully modeled coiffure which is invariably black,semi- closed pierced eyes. Mask originates from the lower Ogooue lakes or Libreville,the Moyambe mountain range Gabon. The measurements includes the carved headdress in height .Encrusted patina and fine surface pigmentation. The white face represents the soul of an ancestor, used in mourning and also danced with to resolve conflict. Meas ures 13 " x 8 1/2" x 6" ( 33cm x 22cm x 16cm) The Punu -Lumbo .
