If you are looking for an antique frame which only few were made,and has a Very Rare Birdseye Cut of walnut on frame's face then your in for a treat!This frame is stamped on the back with a steel die marked patented Oct 24,1871.I have never seen another frame with birdseye walnut and I have been collecting for 37 years.This frame now moves to my best 8 x 10 oval inner liner.You are bidding/buying a 3 teir,oval gilded inner liner,heavy,antique, walnut frame with a flat inner face with unparralled Wood Patinas of Birdseye Walnut in the whole upper right cut of the four quarters.All quarters are dovetailed and glued.I have only seen this once on a peice of early American victorian furniture but not ever on a flat surface face of a picture frame.This frame came out of NYC [80 miles for me] and would have been made somew in the eastern USA.Only an elite store like Tiffany would have sold them.When I tryed to secure inner walnut face to the frame's outer walnut teir with original square nails in back,the nails snapped,so I used s few thin nails.The wood is that hard from age.The frame's wood has less than the normal number of nicks for this period.The gilded oval liner is 7/8" wide and has the normal black age specks for the period but no chips.I did spot an age split in the outer gilded liner in the lower right corner but to find it you read more
