Antique Royal Doulton Flow Blue Wash Bowl & Pitcher Set larger version Circa 1900 per English Registry Mark This antique flow blue wash bowl and pitcher is just fabulous. Both the basin and pitcher carry impressed mark RD 357021. This dates these pieces to 1900 according to English Design Registry Numbers (reference: "Kovel's New Dictionary of Marks-Pottery & Porcelain 1850 to Present" p. 240). I am fairly certain it is Royal Doulton but it only carries the English Registry Mark. The way the handle is joined, the raised designs and the way the gold is "floated" over the raised design are all characteristics of Royal Doulton. The pitcher and bowl are decorated in a motif of poppy flowers. T is relief decoration on both bowl and pitcher with sponged gold accents. The depth of blue color is very rich and dark. T is a high gloss glaze. T are no chips, cracks, or repairs. The bowl does have some fine dimpling through the glaze on the inside surface which was a manufacturing condition. See Photographs. This flow blue came from the estate of a collector who kept them displayed on a high architectual ledge in her home. She also operated a fine collectibles and antiques store at one time.
