This is a still safe bank for the Obermiller Hatter & Clothing Store of Galena Illinois, from the late 1800s. This was purchased from an antique store on main street in Galena Illinois about 25 years ago, which actually use to be the location of the Obermiller store. � It opens by removing a screw in the bottom of the bank. � It is really a beautiful chrome over cast iron bank with raised cherubs on both sides, a raised girl and her dog on the back and "OBERMILLER SELLS CLOTHING" in raised letters on the front and "OBERMILLER HATTER GALENA" in raised letters on the top. The store was located walking distance from the U S Grant home in Galena Illinois. Bank was manufactured by the Regent Mfg Co of Chicago, and is 4 inches high, 3 inches wide and 3 inches deep. A really beautiful bank from a historic little town in Illinois.I have added additional pictures to show the raised characters on the sides and front of the bank. Thank you.
