Antique Salvadore De Durro Violin Nice Flamed Back.Here is a nice quality antique violin with a label inside that reads Salvadore De Durro B & J New York Sole Importers and then another smaller label that reads made in Germany. Violin is in need of repair the top has a crack on the treble side from bottom up through the f hole and a little bit past that, otherwise the rest looks pretty solid. The bass bar is down and inside the instrument. Back measures approx 14 1/8" and bouts are approx 6 5/8" and 8 1/4". Violin is made fine quality flamed maple and the top is finely carved with nice fluted f holes. Many times instruments with the same label come in different grades and this one is definitely of a higher grade compared to others, better quality wood, finer carving with signs of hand craftsmanship. Nice old violin fresh out of a good old estate collection that is currently being listed. Comes in an antique case.
