This is a beautiful pair of antique American Indian dolls. Their legs, arms, and heads are made from sculpted, open-pit fired clay. Their bodies are fabric. The woman wears a cotton print shirt and skirt, a fabric and lace underskirt, and stocking underclothing. In her little hand is a clay pipe. The fingers around it are perfect. Her boots are made to look like they are high-top boots with buttons up the sides. Little gold hoops are in her ears. On the right side of her head is carved an artist marking. She is softly stuffed and all hand-sewn. Her mate wears a buckskin outfit that h7" taas beautiful red and orange beadwork. Around his head is a buckskin headband. Both doll's faces hold much expression and character. The man's hands are clenched. He has black inset bead eyes. Their clay parts are still tightly bound to their bodies. A very interesting and intriguing couple for a collection. The woman measures about 8 1/4" tall and the man 9 1/2" tall. This set is Native American made. Beautifully sculpted and in very good condition for their age.
