ITEM DESCRIPTION This auction is for a superb antique Sevres porcelain comport. Dating to c. 1850.This is a genuine piece of the 'service a chiffre dore de l'empereur Napoleon III' comissioned from Sevres by Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (1808 - 1873) during the mid 19thC.Bearing Napoleons initial gilded to the center of the bowl.Pieces from this service do appear from time to time in auction, for some identical pieces please see Christies 30th September sale 2010, sale number 2344 lot 247.Sevres factory marks to the underside.Measures 14.5cm tall x 24cm in diameter.No chips or cracks, there is some gilt wear to the rim and foot and some scattered spots of wear to the initial in the well but its largely ok.A fine example, great talking point and genuine piece of history.
