Antique cast iron tea kettle manufactured in Philadelphia by the I.A. Sheppard Co.As would be expected for a 19th Century antique of this type, there is a fair amount of rust on the bottom, spout, handle, and sides. The pot measures roughly 8" in diameter (excluding the spout). The distance from the back to spout measures roughly 11" with a height of just under 7" to the top of the lid. The curvedhandle is approximately 9" long. The kettle cover is missing the hinge, but at some point a wire clip was used to hold it in place, I.A. Sheppard & Co. was incorporated in 1860, but went bankrupt in 1914 when World War I in Europe made it difficult for the stove and ironworks company to collect money due from creditors.
