This lovely Etruscan Majolica dish dates from the late 1800's. It measure 12" long and 9.5" wide. Colors are beautiful. On the underside the Etruscan stamp is clearly pressed into the clay. There is a line under the glaze (second to last picture) which seems to have occurred before glazing, and there is a flea bite chip on the underside near the rim (last picture). Neither of these detract from the piece but I wanted to mention them for transparency Etruscan Majolica was a brand name given to the earthenware pottery created first by Griffen, Smith and Hill, then later manufactured by Griffen, Smith and Company; Griffen, Love and Company; and Griffen China Company, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania in the years between 1879 and 1892. During the eleven years that the company was in production they only used three underside treatments for their multicolored pottery: solid white; yellow and green sponged; and the most common, brown and teal-grey mottled.
