This is a very fine Antique Silver with Scottish Agate and Citrine Brooch dating to around 1870. This piece is stunning and the silver is elegantly engraved and ornamented with scrolling design throughout. The brooch forms a circle of 5 agates with colors of dark green, pink with purple marble, tan with brown marble, and brown with white marble. The agates are oval shaped and mounted in the silver circle forming a uniform curved surface. Between each agate is a citrine gem stone. The center is adorned with a large citrine quartz mounted proudly in filigree open silver work. The silver is unmarked, as is often the case with older Scottish pieces, however, it tested at a purity of 800. This brooch measures 4.5 cm (1 7/8 inches) in diameter. The center citrine is 1.5 cm (5/8 inches) in diameter. There is a loop on the reverse if you chose to wear this piece as a necklace. This brooch is part of an old prestigious estate and reflects a keen eye for quality and craftsmanship. I have taken photographs from different angles so that you can see the quality and condition of this piece. It is in excellent condition with no damage or wear with the exception of a small dent on the bottom which is likely the result of being dropped. Fortunately, the dent is in a place not seen when worn. See the last photo. Please contact me with comments and read more
