VICTORIAN SOLID OAK GALLERY - CREST WITH DEEP APPLIED TIGER OAK CARVING. GOOD CONDITION. Carved DRAGON face at each end of the gallery. The gallery is late 19th Century vintage, probably 1880's to 1900's. Nice gallery - would be a perfect topping for that oak piece of funriture! Measures 40 inches long at the base. (It could be cut down a few inches at each end of the base w it mounts onto a piece of furniture, if you needed a shorter gallery. ) T is no carving at the lower sides of the base so it would not be hard to shorten the length. At the top of the sides it is about 45 inches long. Height at the center is just over 14 inches, and at the ends, height is just over 10 inches. As you can see from the photo t is one piece of the applied carving missing - a piece just about 1/2 inch long at the left side of the middle carving. Not really noticeable. ( Marked with green paper in the pictures.) The rest of the carving is good - deep carving with cabuchon design in the center. Made from good thick oak stock, about 3/4 inches thick, not including the applied carving. T is a piece of rounded shape oak molding just below the center carving. The thickness at the top with the carving is just less than 2 inches. Probably from an oak bookcase, china cabinet, oak dining server/huntboard or maybe even from an oak desk.
