Antique silver sugar tongs hallmarked Chester 1896. The original design was probably 18th Century but these are a particularly charming, well proportioned, delicate pair of sugar tongs from Nathan & Hayes. The hallmarks comprise the maker's mark N&H, the lion passant for sterling silver, the Chester town mark and the capital letter N for 1896, with only the lion and date letter on the other handle. Length 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm). Weight 30 grams.
