For sale today is a restored medium size flat top steamer trunk that is almost flat. t is a very slight curve in the lid and has new leather straps. The restoration turned out just awesome. The pictures do not do it justice. I did not find any patent date on the trunk and based on 35 years experience restoring trunk I would date this trunk to the 1890's to early 1900's which makes this great old trunk a 100 plus years old - a true antique. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the bottom is solid and the metal has been painted. The trunk has the four original hinges which are heavy duty, fancy, tight and work very well, t are 55 plus pieces of polished hardware, has the original Corbin center lock which has been polished - no key, the lid lifters are heavy duty and are part of the latches, t he two original latches are heavy duty, fancy and work very well, t are twelve solid oak slats in a golden oak color and are in VGC, this awesome old flat top has the original tray and the interior has been removed. All the metal is VGC, t are eight original metal wheels on the bottom and the trunk rolls easily, has the original metal lid stay and the lid closes well.
