I believe this to be a very Rare Steiff Eskimo/Samojede Doll He has no IDs, so I cannot guarantee he is Steiff, but his features match those of Steiff Dolls of the early 20th century. He has the Samojede style feet, but he has no coat except for the bottom edge, which has been reattached at some point by a previous owner. His hands appear to be in the style of the Samojede doll in the sortiment book, and are in the style of the hands on other Steff dolls of this period. I am not an expert in Steiff Dolls, so please ask any questions you need to, to further authenticate. There is a seam down the center of the face, and the eyes are brown and black glass. The mohair on the body and head is in quite good condition. There is an internal squeaker, not working. The color of the body is grey, but may have been a light tipped brown originally (looks sort of brown tipped under the 'skirt') The hair is black mohair, some thinning, but overall very good condition. He measures between 11 and 12 inches tall, so was likely the 28cm version. Areas of wear: Face has had some very neat repairs (see photo details), visible when close up, but that blend well at a short distance away, so he displays nicely.
