Beautiful antique rough European Stag handles with Sterling Silver caps, 3 piece carving set, with knife, fork, and sharpener.Each end cap is stamped "Sterling", and the bottom of each has a script engraving "KAS". The knife blade is stamped "J.E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia, PA." The sharpener is stamped "LEE" The fork stand is stamped "Patent July 188?". I can't quite read the last number, I think the date is 1885, might be 1886. Each piece has a 5 1/2 inch long stag handle. The knife has a 9 1/2" blade, overall length is 15 1/8". The end cap of the fork piece has a split in the silver, you can see it in the pictures. The stag on all 3 pieces are in perfect condition. These were made prior to 1890, when the US Tariff Act passed, requiring all foreign cutlery be marked indicating the country of origin. I am confident in my description and photos, and I am available to answer any additional questions you may have, so please ask.
