Boxed Set of 6 Antique Gilded Sterling Silver & Enamel Decorated Cockerel Top Cocktail Sticks c 1930 Each antique cocktail stick measures approximately 3 5/8 inches or 91 mm in length from top to bottom and it is just under 3/4 of an inch or 18 mm across the width of the cockerel from its beak to its tail. The presentation case or box measures approximately 5 inches or 126 mm across its length from side to side by 4 5/8 inches or 117 mm across its width from the hinges to the front catches and it stands 1 inch or 26 mm tall to the top of its lid when closed . The cocktail sticks are all made from sterling silver that have been completely gilded or gold plated and each one has a superb raised relief and engrave decorated cockerel on the top that has also been decorated with coloured enamels on one side, the cocktail sticks are complete with their original hinged presentation case or box that has an internal velvet and silk lining along with two gilt metal catches on the front, the cocktail sticks have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and each one has been impressed with a 925 standard Sterling Silver mark all as photographed below , I estimate that this set was originally made in England for the American market circa 1930's. The condition is used and near Mint for their age. All of the Enamel decoration is in Mint Condition with No Chips. The cocktail spikes have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the decoration is very crisp, the gilding is not worn through, the Sterling Silver marks are still clearly legible although as the cocktail sticks are used antiques the outer box has some damage to the top of its outer body and the set has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, this set has the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this set of antique cocktail cherry or olive sticks would make a superb addition to any collection and that they can still be used today, I also think that they look absolutely fantastic considering that they are around 80 or so years old.
